We are proud to announce the successful installation of Sri Lanka’s first-ever LP Gas Liquid Off-Take (LOT) System at Ocean Lanka’s manufacturing facility in Biyagama.
What is a LOT System?
A Liquid Off-Take (LOT) system is an advanced gas supply method where LPG is drawn from storage cylinders in liquid phase rather than vapour phase. The liquid LPG is then passed through a dedicated industrial vaporizer which converts it to gas for use.
This approach delivers several critical advantages over conventional vapour withdrawal manifolds:
- Up to 3× higher flow rates — suitable for heavy industrial demand
- Consistent outlet pressure regardless of cylinder fill level
- No pressure drop in cold weather conditions
- Greater gas utilisation from each cylinder — less residual waste
- Fully automated — no manual intervention for cylinder changeover
The Ocean Lanka Installation
The system at Ocean Lanka features a multi-cylinder Litro Gas LOT manifold using 37.5 kg cylinders, connected to an industrial-grade LPG vaporizer and dual-stage pressure regulation panel with automated electrical control and safety interlocks.
This installation required specialised engineering design, precision fabrication and strict adherence to gas safety standards — all delivered by the Okanta Engineering team.
Industry Significance
This milestone demonstrates that Sri Lankan engineering capability is ready for sophisticated, internationally-standard gas supply solutions. As industrial gas demand grows, LOT systems will become increasingly important for large-scale manufacturing facilities across the island.
